The Department of Anesthesiology is responsible for the safety and success of operative procedures in the Operating Room by rendering the patient insensitive to pain during the surgical procedure, monitor the patient’s condition prior, during and after the procedure, and monitor the therapy of gaseous substances used in anesthesia.

One key quality assurance responsibility of the Department is obtaining the proper patient informed consent before any surgery.
