REGION II TRAUMA AND MEDICAL CENTER recognizes your rights while you are receiving medical care and that you respect the hospital’s rights to expect certain behavior on the part of patients. Your rights are as follows:

    • Right to give consent to diagnostic and treatment procedures.
    • Right to religious belief.
    • Right to privacy.
    • Right to disclosure of information and health education.
    • Right to confidential information.
    • Right to choose ones physician.
    • Right to treatment.
    • Right to refuse necessary treatments.
    • Right to respect and non-discrimination.
    • For the unconscious patient or otherwise unable to express ones will, informed consent must be obtained whenever possible. Physicians should always try to save the life of an unconscious patient.
    • For the minor or otherwise legally incompetent, the consent of a legally entitled representative is required. Nevertheless, the patient must be involved in the decision making to the fullest extent allowed by ones capacity.

    • A patient is responsible for reporting unexpected changes in ones condition to the physician/nurse.
    • A patient is responsible for reporting whether one comprehends a contemplated course of action and what is expected of him/her.
    • A patient is responsible for following the treatment plan recommended by ones physician.
    • A patient is responsible for keeping appointment and when one is unable to do so for any reason for notifying ones physician or hospital staff.
    • A patient is responsible for ones action if one refuses treatment or does not follow the physician’s or nurse’s instruction.
    • A patient is responsible for assuring that the financial obligations of ones health are fulfilled as promptly as possible.
    • A patient is responsible for following the hospital’s rules and regulations affecting patient care and conduct.
    • A patient is responsible for providing to the physician/nurse to the best of ones knowledge, accurate and complete information about present complaints, past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other matters relating to ones health.
